Four Little Words

Four Little Words comes from Greenrift Software. It plays in the browser at 4lw.io and in apps for iPhone and Android, the App Store version out since October 2025. It is a short daily puzzle: one theme, four words.

The day's theme sits at the top, with four rows of empty tiles below it, each the length of one answer, and a keyboard of letters underneath. The keyboard holds exactly the letters of the four answers, so each tile you use is gone from the pool. Tap letters to fill the next open row. A right word turns green and stays; a wrong one costs a mistake and is marked letter by letter in green, yellow and red, Wordle style, and kept in a list above the board. After five mistakes the puzzle locks for the day. A timer runs as you play.

On 19 October 2026 the theme was ____berry, with rows of four and five letters, and the pool of nineteen letters shared out into RASP, STRAW, GOOSE and ELDER. Counting the letters left over is often as useful as the theme itself.

The daily is free and needs no account; an optional account keeps your stats. In the browser a sponsored ad card counts down before the game opens, and the Android app lists ads. A subscription in the apps opens the archive of past puzzles and an unlimited practice mode without the mistake limit.

It suits players who like Wordle's colour clues but want a theme and a fixed set of letters to reason from.
