Hunt down today's country from four clues per guess.

Find the Country mid-game: Japan shaded on the world map with continent, population, size and direction clues, and the guesses Japan and Austria listed below

Find the Country is a daily geography hunt on Quizebra. Each guess returns four clues about the hidden country (its continent, more or fewer people, bigger or smaller, and a compass direction), and your score is how many guesses you needed.

About Find the Country (Quizebra)

Find the Country is one of Quizebra's free daily geography challenges. Each day one of 197 countries is hidden, the same for everyone, and the daily pick works through a shuffled list so each comes up once before the list is reshuffled.

You type a country and get four clues back: its continent, marked green when it matches the target's, an arrow for whether the target has more or fewer people, an arrow for whether it is bigger or smaller, and one of eight compass points towards it. The direction is read off the flat map you see, so from Britain Japan points east; only for pairs more than halfway round the world does it take the shorter way across the Pacific. The size arrows are yellow while the gap is under five times and red at five times or more. Every guess is shaded on a world map, and tiny island nations are circled so they do not vanish.

There is no guess limit and no timer, and fewer guesses is better on the daily leaderboard. A Give up button reveals the answer after a confirm, but a day you give up on does not go on the board. Figures come from the 2025 CIA World Factbook and continents from Natural Earth. It is free, with no account and no ads, and practice rounds stay open after the daily.

It suits players of Worldle and Countryle who like a slower deduction round with no kilometre distances, only direction and size.

How to play Find the Country (Quizebra)

  1. Open Find the Country and press Start Playing.
  2. Type part of a country's name and pick it from the list; short forms such as UK and USA work.
  3. Read the four clues: continent, population arrow, area arrow and compass direction.
  4. Use them to choose your next guess; each guess is shaded on the map and kept in the list below it.
  5. Keep guessing until you find the country, then see your count on the daily leaderboard, or press Give up to see the answer off the board.

Tips

  • Open with a mid-sized country such as Austria, Hungary or Czechia so both size arrows split the field.
  • Let the compass arrow choose the region and the size arrows choose the country within it.
  • Directions follow the map on screen, so from Britain Japan is east and from India the United States is west.
  • A red arrow means a gap of five times or more, even between neighbours such as Belgium and Luxembourg.

Questions

When does Find the Country reset?

At midnight London time, with a new hidden country for everyone.

Is there a guess limit?

No. You keep guessing until you find it, and fewer guesses is better. You can give up to see the answer, but that day does not count on the leaderboard.

Can the same country come up again?

Yes, but only after all 197 countries have had their day: the daily pick works through a shuffled list before reshuffling.
