fata Daily (programming quiz)

A five-minute daily quiz on real code: find the bug, the output or the broken line.

on fata.app

fata daily quiz, Dart Easy, first of ten questions: fill in the blanks to compare an entered username with a stored one, with operator keys ! < = and a timer

fata is a daily programming quiz for working developers. Each day there is a new quiz for each topic and difficulty, from CSS to Rust, made of short questions on real code: tap the line that causes an error, read the tests, and move on against a timer. Your result can be shared as a code.

About fata Daily (programming quiz)

fata calls itself full-stack fundamentals for professional developers: real code, short sessions and a new quiz every day. Its maker launched it on Show HN in September 2026 as a five-minute daily habit against the skill rot that comes from leaning on coding assistants.

Before you start you choose a topic and a difficulty, from twelve topics (CSS, Dart, Go, JavaScript, Python, React, Ruby, Rust, TypeScript, Security, Architecture and Rails) and four levels (Easy, Medium, Hard and Brutal), and that day's quiz for the pair is the same for everyone who picks it. A quiz is a run of about ten short questions with a progress bar and a clock. One question shows a compiler error, such as Rust's E0614 for dereferencing an f64, beside a short program and its tests, and asks you to tap the line that causes it. Others ask you to compose the missing operator in a short program, as in a Dart question that compares a typed username with a stored one, or to judge output and behaviour in the same hands-on way.

At the end you get a row of squares for right and wrong answers and your time, with a link that encodes your result, so colleagues can compare on the same quiz. No login is needed, there are no ads, and the interface is available in English and French. It works the same in a phone browser, where the code panel scrolls sideways.

How to play fata Daily (programming quiz)

  1. Open fata's daily page; it suggests a topic and difficulty.
  2. Press Customize quiz to pick another of the twelve topics and four levels, then Done.
  3. Press Start quiz; the clock starts.
  4. Read each question and its code, switching to the Tests tab when it helps.
  5. Answer by tapping the line that causes the error or composing the missing code, then press I'm done or Next.
  6. Finish all the questions and share your result link.

Tips

  • Read the error message and its line and column first; they usually point straight at the culprit.
  • Check the Tests tab to see what the code is meant to do before deciding what is wrong.
  • Pick a language you use at work for a quick daily check, and an unfamiliar one when you have time to learn.
