Farout is a daily trivia game for iPhone and iPad where being right is not enough. Each day brings seven open prompts, the same for everyone, such as naming a dish from a national cuisine. Every accepted answer scores, but a common one keeps you near the surface while an answer few others gave sends you thousands of feet down.
About Farout
Farout turns trivia upside down. Instead of one right answer, each prompt has a long list of them: a dish from a national cuisine, an animal you would find in a pond, a film based on a true story. A line under the prompt says what counts, such as any dish on Wikidata linked to a country of origin. You get 30 seconds and one answer, with no take-backs. Any answer on the list scores, and the game estimates how many other players gave the same one. Pizza barely ripples the surface. Saganaki, given by well under one percent, drops you more than 5,000 feet.
The day is seven prompts, the same seven for everyone. Your depth adds up across the dive, and 700 points reaches the bottom of the trench. After each answer you see its estimated popularity and your points, with a short note about the thing you named. Since version 1.6 each prompt also shows its most common answers, where yours ranks and every accepted answer, with a search.
You can share your depth as a row of coloured squares and compare answers with friends who played the same seven. The app keeps your streak, deepest dive and rarest answer. Some reviewers find the answer lists miss obscure but valid picks, and the maker answers that the lists are fixed so everyone is scored against the same ones.
Farout is made by Code Stellar LLC and came out on the App Store on 30 September 2026, with six updates in its first three weeks. The daily dive is free. Far Out Plus, monthly, yearly or for life, adds genre games such as Movies and TV or Music, practice sets, the archive of past dives and detailed stats. Yesterday's dive is free, and a short video unlocks one extra game a day. In late October 2026 it ran Halloween in the Deep, with spooky prompts and a moonlit night dive.
How to play Farout
- Open Farout and start the day's dive.
- Read the prompt and the line under it that says which answers count.
- Type one answer within 30 seconds. Aim for one that fits but that few other players will think of.
- See your answer's popularity, your points and how deep it took you, then go on to the next prompt.
- After all seven prompts, check where your answers ranked and share your depth.

Tips
- The obvious answer is safe but shallow. The second or third thing that comes to mind usually scores more.
- Draw on a hobby or a place you know well, since specialist knowledge is where rare answers come from.
- Read the line under each prompt. A rare answer only counts if it is on the accepted list.
- Thirty seconds goes fast, so settle on your answer before you start typing.
