Dissembler is a minimalist puzzle game by Ian MacLarty, published by Shape Shop in 2018. You swap pairs of neighbouring tiles so that groups of three or more of one colour vanish, aiming to clear the whole design. Besides more than 170 hand-made levels and an endless mode, it gives six new daily puzzles that grow harder through the set, with each solution shown the following day.
About Dissembler
Dissembler looks like a match-three game but plays like a logic puzzle. Each level is an abstract design of coloured tiles. You flip two neighbouring tiles, and any group of three or more matching tiles disappears. Nothing falls in to replace them, so the goal is to remove every tile and leave a clean slate, which usually means working out the order of moves in advance.
The game was made by Ian MacLarty and published by Shape Shop in February 2018. It won the Excellence in Design award at Freeplay 2018. The main game has more than 170 hand-made puzzles with no randomness, later levels add split and layered tiles, undo is unlimited and free, and a colour-blind mode is built in. An Infinite mode adds endless play with online leaderboards.
The daily mode gives six fresh puzzles each day. They follow the same rules as the main levels and climb in difficulty: the first is quick and the last is the hardest. A step-by-step solution to each one appears the next day, so a puzzle you could not crack still teaches you something.
Dissembler is a one-time purchase on Steam for Windows, macOS and Linux, on the App Store, on Google Play (also in Play Pass) and on itch.io, with no in-app purchases and no ads. It suits players who like calm, exact puzzles where one wrong swap spoils the plan.

- Work up to the sixth and hardest puzzle, and check the solutions the next day for any you missed.
