DailyMetro Chicago is a daily Wordle-style game about the eight CTA 'L' rapid transit lines. Type any station and the game colours its lines, the direction to the target, the length of its name and its area, guiding you to the day's station in 8 guesses. Map and Photo rounds follow on the same day.
About DailyMetro Chicago
DailyMetro is a set of free browser games, one per city, made by Eliott, an engineer who builds them in his spare time. The Chicago edition, marked new on the site, covers the eight CTA 'L' rapid transit lines and is played in English.
Each day has one hidden station and a day number, the same for everyone; a new station is drawn at midnight Chicago time. You start with any station you like and have 8 guesses. For each guess the board shows four clues: the lines it is on, an arrow pointing from your guess toward the target, the number of letters in its name with an arrow for longer or shorter, and its area, such as the Loop or Lakeview. Each clue turns green for a match, orange for a partial match or red for a miss. After the first guess a short box explains what each clue told you. At the fourth guess the game shows you the line, and a button lets you give up and look at the map.
The day has three rounds side by side: Classic, Map, where you place the station on the network map, and Photo, where you recognise a station from a picture of its entrance. On the first visit the game asks for Normal or Connoisseur; Connoisseur swaps in harder clues. A streak counter, statistics and a list of past days to replay sit at the top of the page, and no account is needed.
It suits Chicagoans and transit fans who know the 'L' by heart, as well as visitors who want to learn it one station at a time.
How to play DailyMetro Chicago
- Open DailyMetro Chicago and choose Normal or Connoisseur.
- Type the name of any 'L' station in the Classic round to make your first guess.
- Read the clues: lines, direction to the target, number of letters and area, each coloured green, orange or red.
- Use the arrow and shared lines to pick a station closer to the target; from the fourth guess the game shows the line.
- Find the day's station within 8 guesses, then play the Map and Photo rounds and share your result.

Tips
- Start with a Loop station such as Clark/Lake: it sits on six lines, so the line clue rules out a lot at once.
- Follow the direction arrow, then use the letter count to choose between nearby candidates.
- Use the network explorer to learn the lines before trying Connoisseur.
