A Daily Verdict case in progress: a grid of five suspects with room, item, time and role columns, and clues below

Daily Verdict is an iPhone deduction game with one case a day, the same for every player. Each suspect has a room, an item, an hour and a role, and a short list of clues that never lie lets you fill the grid until the culprit falls out. You are scored on clean reasoning, not speed.

About Daily Verdict

Each Daily Verdict case has four or five suspects. For each one you must work out things like the room they were in, the item they carried, the hour and their role, from a short stack of true clues such as 'Whoever was in the Attic carried the Rope'. You tap a cell and choose a value, and as the grid narrows the guilty suspect emerges on their own; you never mark anyone guilty directly.

Every player in the world gets the same case each day, seeded from the date. The maker says each case is generated and checked before it ships to have exactly one solution and a path that never needs a guess. The week is built like an investigation, from Monday's Opening with four suspects and two traits, through the Inquiry, Cross-examination, Timeline, Full case and Cold case, to Sunday's Verdict with five suspects across room, item, hour and role.

Feedback is honest but never a hint: a clue turns green only when your own marks prove it and red only when they contradict it, and the game never checks your work against the hidden answer. Scoring rewards clean reasoning, with every self-contradicting mark costing you. A flawless case earns five stars and the word Airtight; the lower tiers are Clean, Convicted, Circumstantial and Hung jury. Time is only a soft tiebreak on the Game Center leaderboard, which also tracks the longest streak.

The daily case and unlimited Warm-up practice are free with no ads, no account and no tracking. Verdict+ is a one-time unlock for Steady, Tricky and Brutal practice cases. Version 1.1 in late September 2026 gave the app a darker evidence-desk look. It is one of the single-puzzle daily apps from the maker of Daily Knot and Daily Circuit, and came out in August 2026.

How to play Daily Verdict

  1. Open the app and press Play today's verdict.
  2. Read the clues under the grid.
  3. Tap a cell and choose the room, item, hour or role you can prove for that suspect.
  4. Keep going until the clues leave only one arrangement and the guilty suspect stands out.
  5. See your stars, share the spoiler-free card and come back tomorrow for the next case.

Tips

  • Start with clues that name a suspect directly, such as 'Ada was in the Cellar'.
  • Linked clues ('whoever was in X carried Y') act as one fact once either half is placed.
  • Only mark what you can prove: wrong marks cost stars, but taking your time does not.
  • Watch the clues turn green as your marks prove them, and recheck any that turn red.
