on dailysleuth.app

Daily Sleuth is a short daily detective puzzle set in Caldmere, a fictional coastal town in Maine. Each morning a numbered case file appears with three suspects; you read it, check their dossiers and file an accusation of three questions, with five guesses and up to four optional clues.
About Daily Sleuth
Daily Sleuth publishes one case a day from Caldmere, a fog-bound town on the Maine coast with 25 places and 65 residents who turn up again and again. Crimes range from theft, forgery and blackmail to arson and murder, and each case has a number, a title, a scene and a short brief, with a painted picture of the place.
You read the case file closely, since the story is the evidence, then open each suspect's dossier for their role, connections and history. When ready you file an accusation in three questions picked for the case: on 22 October 2026 they were who attacked the victim, what his photographs had captured and where the stolen camera bag was hidden. Each question has a few choices, you have five guesses, and every wrong accusation reveals a fresh clue. You can also ask for up to four clues, but the score counts each clue double, so the top rank of Super Sleuth goes to those who solve almost blind.
Difficulty follows the week, from Open & Shut on Monday through Routine, Complex and Classified to Cold Case on Saturday, with a Deep Cold Case on Sunday. Solved cases rank you on daily, weekly and monthly leaderboards once you pick a display name with a free sign-up, and you can share a spoiler-free result card. The archive lists every earlier case to read; playing past cases is part of an optional Premium subscription. There is also a free iPhone app with a streak counter and an email newsletter.
The game is made by LFH Labs, and its world is shared with Redacted, a daily game of blacked-out words in Caldmere's case files. It suits fans of murder mysteries and logic puzzles who want a few minutes of reading and reasoning rather than a word game.
How to play Daily Sleuth
- Open today's case and read the brief and the case file carefully.
- Tap each suspect to read their dossier and look for motive, access and contradictions.
- Press File Accusation and answer the case's three questions, such as who did it, what happened and where the evidence is hidden.
- A wrong accusation costs one of five guesses and reveals a new clue; ask for extra clues only if you need them, since each counts double.
- Share your verdict card and check the leaderboard.

Tips
- Read the whole file before opening clues; most cases can be solved from the text alone.
- Clues count double in the score, so a wrong guess can be cheaper than a clue.
- Late-week cases are built to mislead, so trust details over the narrative.
- Residents recur across cases, so the Caldmere pages and earlier cases give useful background.
