on puzzle-shikaku.com

The Special Daily Shikaku on puzzle-shikaku.com is one big Shikaku grid a day, the same for every player. You divide the grid into rectangles and squares so that each piece contains exactly one number and that number is the piece's area. The daily is larger than the site's regular sizes, which run up to 25x25; on 22 October 2026 it was 30 by 30.
About Daily Shikaku
Shikaku, also called Rectangles, gives you a grid with numbers scattered across it. You draw rectangles (squares count too) so that every cell belongs to exactly one piece, each piece holds exactly one number, and that number equals how many cells the piece covers. A 6 might be a 1x6 strip, a 2x3 block or a 3x2 block, and the work is in deciding which one fits with its neighbours.
Puzzle-shikaku.com offers grids of 5x5, 7x7, 10x10, 15x15, 20x20 and 25x25 at any time, plus Special Daily, Weekly and Monthly puzzles. The daily is a single dated grid shared by every player; the ones for 2 and 22 October 2026 were 30 by 30, which means a lot of rectangles to place. You draw by clicking and dragging, and remove lines with the right mouse button or by holding Ctrl or Shift. Banner ads show above and beside the board unless you are a patron, and patrons can also go back through the last 30 dailies. A Hall of Fame lists solving times, and the site and its rules can be switched into more than twenty languages.
Shikaku is one of the gentler logic types to learn, since the only rule is about area, so it suits people new to grid puzzles as well as regulars who like a long, steady solve. Fans of LinkedIn's Patches will recognise the idea of filling a grid with rectangles.

- Press Done (or Enter) to check the grid and stop the timer.

Tips
- Start with large numbers in tight spaces and with prime numbers such as 5, 7 or 11, which can only be a single strip.
- A cell that only one number can reach must belong to that number's rectangle, even if you do not know the rectangle's exact shape yet.
- Numbers along the edges and in corners have fewer possible shapes; settle them early.
- On a 30x30 grid, work one area at a time and save a checkpoint before you commit to a guess-like shape.
