The Daily Mirror Crossword for 26 October 2026 on a desktop: a 13 by 13 grid with USERS filled in at 1 Across, beside the Across and Down clue lists

The Daily Mirror Crossword is the British paper's everyday crossword, played free in the browser with no sign-up. Each day brings a new 13 by 13 grid of short definition clues across and down, with a timer, three Jokers that reveal a letter, and a date bar for earlier days.

About Daily Mirror Crossword

The Daily Mirror Crossword is the main daily crossword of the Mirror, a British tabloid. It runs on games.mirror.co.uk, the paper's games site, which is built on kr3m's puzzle platform and shared in style with other British papers such as the Daily Express.

Each day's puzzle is a 13 by 13 grid with about 26 clues, split into Across and Down. The clues are plain definitions with the answer length in brackets (Operators, 5 letters, or Monarch, 7 and 4). You pick a clue or a square and type, and the crossing letters help with the harder entries. A timer runs from the start, and a faster finish earns a higher score.

You get three Jokers per puzzle, and each one reveals a single correct letter. More Jokers can be earned by watching a short advert from the menu. The date bar above the grid shows the day and how much of it you have filled, and its arrows and calendar open earlier puzzles from the archive.

On a desktop the grid and both clue lists sit side by side. On a phone the game opens full screen with its own keyboard and one clue shown above it. A video advert usually plays before the grid opens, and it can be skipped after a few seconds.

It suits solvers who want a straightforward daily crossword of definition clues. Those who prefer wordplay can try the Mirror's cryptic crossword instead.

How to play Daily Mirror Crossword

  1. Open the crossword and press Play Now. Skip or wait out the video advert.
  2. Tap a clue in the Across or Down list, or tap a square in the grid.
  3. Type the answer. The number in brackets gives its length.
  4. Use the letters from crossing answers to work out the harder clues.
  5. When stuck, use a Joker to reveal one correct letter. The puzzle ends when every square is filled.

  • Clues with two numbers in brackets, such as (7,4), are two-word answers.
  • Save the three Jokers for the last corner you cannot crack.
  • Use the date bar to play an earlier day's grid when you finish today's.
