Daily Chess Puzzles is an iPhone and iPad app that serves chess.com's daily puzzle, the same position for everyone, and counts your streak of days solved. Around it are rated Quick Play puzzles picked for your level and lessons in 18 tactics that also work offline.
About Daily Chess Puzzles (app)
Daily Chess Puzzles is an app by Stefan Stangl, on the App Store since November 2020. Version 3, released in October 2026, rebuilt it around three parts: the daily puzzle, Quick Play and Learn.
The daily puzzle comes from chess.com and is the same for every player that day. The home screen shows its name and goal, for example mate in 4, and a countdown to the next one. You open it, see whose move it is, and play the winning line on the board, with a hint if you ask for one and a link to the puzzle on chess.com. A flame at the top keeps your streak, and streak freezes and restores let you miss a day without losing it. Game Center adds achievements at 7, 30, 100 and 365 days in a row and leaderboards.
Quick Play starts with five puzzles to find your level, then picks each puzzle for you from more than 26,000 and moves your rating as you solve. Learn has lessons in 18 tactics, from forks, pins and skewers to back-rank and smothered mates and rook endgames, eight puzzles a lesson; the first lesson of each theme is free. Quick Play and Learn work with no connection, and only the daily puzzle needs one. No account is needed: rating, streak and lessons travel with iCloud between iPhone and iPad.
The app is free with ads. One-time purchases remove the ads, unlock all lessons, or both; there is no subscription. It suits players who want a short chess tactic every day on their phone, with more practice at their own level when they have time.

Tips

- Read the goal before moving: a mate in 4 rules out lines that only win material.
- Spend a streak freeze before a day you know you will miss.
