One shape, one straight cut, and the closest to 50:50 you can manage.

Cutle's daily shape, a green hatter's top hat marked 10/6, inside a circle ringed with teacups, a rabbit, a mouse and a hat, waiting to be cut in half

Cutle gives you a new shape every day and one straight cut to split it in half. Drag a line at any angle; the game shows the ratio of the two pieces, and anything from 48:52 to a perfect 50:50 counts as a win.

About Cutle

Cutle is a small daily game from pfiffel.com about judging area by eye. Each day there is a new shape, sometimes simple and sometimes a cluster of curves, such as a group of smiling faces, and your task is to cut it into two pieces of equal area with one straight line.

You click or touch and drag to make the cut, from any angle. The game then shows the ratio between the two sides. Only your first cut counts for the day's score; a result of 48:52 or better is a win and keeps your streak going. A global distribution shows how everyone else did on the same shape.

The shape changes at 00:00 UTC. Past shapes can be replayed from a calendar, where you get unlimited attempts at a best score, separate from your first try.

It takes under a minute, which suits anyone who wants a quick daily test of spatial judgement.

How to play Cutle

  1. Open Cutle; today's shape is shown.
  2. Click or touch and drag to draw one straight cut across the shape, at any angle.
  3. Release to see the ratio of the two pieces.
  4. 48:52 or better is a win; only your first cut counts for the day.

Tips

  • Find the shape's balance point first, then pass the cut through it.
  • Rotating the angle of the cut changes the ratio less than shifting it sideways.
  • Use the archive to practise: it allows unlimited tries.
