Cubisum's Easy daily board in play: the top left box pressed twice and shaded blue, its neighbours showing 2, beside the target grid of 7, 6, 6 and 7

Cubisum is a daily number puzzle played on two grids side by side. Tapping a box on your grid adds one to each of its neighbours, and the goal is to make your grid show the same numbers as the target grid. Each day brings an Easy, a Medium and a Hard board, with a leaderboard, streaks and multiplayer races.

About Cubisum

Cubisum is a browser logic game built on one action. You play on the left grid while the right grid shows the numbers you need to reach. Clicking or tapping a box adds one to each box next to it; a right click or long press takes one away. A box can be clicked up to four times before it cycles back, and dots in its corner and its shade of blue show how many times you have used it. You win when every box on your grid matches the target.

The daily boards are generated from the date with a seeded random generator, in Easy, Medium and Hard, so everyone on the same date gets the same boards. The game says there is a new Cubisum every day at 5 PM your time, and a countdown shows when the next one arrives. An optional timer and number dots can be switched on in the settings, and the result screen gives your time and move count to share, with a statistics panel for wins and streaks.

Besides the daily Classic puzzle there is Public Multiplayer, where you race players from around the world, and Play with Friends, a private room you share with a game code. A Play More button gives extra boards once you have finished the daily one. The trick is less in the adding than in working out which boxes to press, since every press changes several numbers at once. It suits players who like short number puzzles in the family of Lights Out.

How to play Cubisum

  1. Choose a difficulty: Easy, Medium or Hard.
  2. Compare your grid on the left with the target grid on the right.
  3. Click or tap a box to add one to each of its neighbours; right click or long press to take one away.
  4. Watch the dots on each box: a box can be used up to four times before it resets.
  5. Keep adjusting until every number on your grid matches the target, then share your time and moves.

Tips

  • Work out which boxes touch a stubborn target number before clicking; every click changes several numbers at once.
  • Turn on number dots in settings so you can see how often each box has been clicked.
  • Undo a move with a right click or long press instead of resetting the whole board.
  • Start on Easy to learn how neighbours interact, then move to Hard.
