Cube Clear

on puzzmo.com

Cube Clear is a daily word puzzle on Puzzmo built from SpellTower. A 6 by 6 grid of letters empties as you spell words through it, the tiles above fall to fill the gaps, and the aim is to clear every tile in as few words as you can. Its page still files it under Puzzmo Plus, but today's board opens for anyone without an account.
About Cube Clear
Cube Clear takes the clearing idea from SpellTower, Zach Gage's word search game, and shrinks it to a 6 by 6 grid of 36 letters. Puzzmo's credits list Gage for the game design, Jack Schlesinger for the puzzles and Saman Bemel Benrud for building it for Puzzmo. It has run on Puzzmo since 2023, first in the site's experimental slot for paying members.
Each day brings one dated grid, the same for every player. You spell a word by dragging through touching letters, diagonals included, and your path may cross itself; you can also tap the letters or type. Tapping the last letter again, or pressing return, submits the word, and its tiles disappear while the letters above drop down. A counter shows how many words you have used and how many letters are left, and a word tree beside the grid lets you undo, reset or go back to an earlier word to try another route.
Instead of chasing high-scoring words, you try to empty the grid in as few words as possible; Puzzmo says each day's grid can be cleared in as few as three. Because the board is small, the order of words matters: one word in the wrong place can strand a few letters that no longer join up. Some players set themselves the harder goal of clearing the board with three-letter words only.
The game's own page on Puzzmo still says it is only for Puzzmo Plus members, yet on 22 October 2026 the day's board opened in a browser with no account. Puzzmo Plus opens the archive of past grids and removes the ads Puzzmo shows to free players. It suits SpellTower players who want a shorter, tighter puzzle, and anyone who likes planning several moves ahead.
How to play Cube Clear
- Open Cube Clear on puzzmo.com or in the Puzzmo app; today's dated 6 by 6 grid loads.
- Drag through touching letters to spell a word; diagonals count and the path may cross itself. You can also tap letters or type them.
- Tap the last letter again or press return to submit; the word's tiles disappear and the letters above fall into the gaps.
- Plan the next word around the new shape, using Undo, Reset or the word tree to try another route.
- Clear every tile in as few words as you can, then press I'm done.

Tips
- Look for one long word through the middle that takes letters from several rows at once.
- Check what will fall into place before you submit; a word lower down can bring letters above it together.
- Leave a vowel near every consonant cluster so the last tiles can still form a word.
- Clear awkward letters such as J, X or Z early, while they still have neighbours.
- Use the word tree to branch from an earlier word rather than resetting the whole board.
Questions
Is Cube Clear free?
Puzzmo's page for the game says it is only for Puzzmo Plus members, but on 27 October 2026 today's board opened and played in a browser with no account. Puzzmo Plus, a yearly subscription (offered at $19.99 for the first year on the game's page when read), opens the archive of past puzzles and removes ads.
What time does the new Cube Clear come out?
Puzzmo's day turns over at midnight US Central Time, when the daily games switch to the next date. Everyone gets the same grid for that date.
How is Cube Clear different from SpellTower?
The grid is smaller, 36 letters in a 6 by 6 square, and the goal is to clear it in as few words as possible rather than to score the most points.
Can I play Cube Clear on my phone?
Yes. It runs in a phone's web browser at puzzmo.com, and Puzzmo has an app for iPhone and iPad.
