CR-dle (Critdle)
Rate itName the day's Critical Role character from race, class, campaign and player, in ten guesses.
on critdle.com

CR-dle, at critdle.com, picks one Critical Role character a day. Each guess shows how that character's race, class, campaign, type, gender, status and player compare with the answer, and you have ten tries, with a hint after five. Past days stay open in a calendar, and a Playtest mode gives extra rounds.
About CR-dle (Critdle)
CR-dle (the site calls itself Critdle) is a daily guessing game for fans of Critical Role, the long-running show in which Matthew Mercer and his cast play Dungeons & Dragons on camera. The answer is one character from across the campaigns: player characters from Vox Machina, the Mighty Nein and Bells Hells, guest characters, and NPCs, with characters from the fourth campaign in the list too. The game holds 130 characters in all.
You type a character's name and choose them from the list that drops down. Each guess becomes a row of seven tiles: race, class, campaign, type (main player character, guest player character or NPC), gender, status and the cast member who plays them. A green tile matches the answer and a red one does not; a character with more than one class can show a part match when only some of the classes are shared. You have ten guesses, and after five you can ask for a hint. A win shows the character's portrait, your guess count, a Share button and a countdown to the next character.
The character is chosen by a hash of the date, so everyone playing on the same calendar day gets the same one, and it changes at midnight where you are. Because the pick is drawn from 130 names rather than run through them in order, a character can come back after a few weeks. A Past Puzzles calendar lets you go back and play earlier days, and a Playtest mode gives practice rounds outside the daily.
The board is a plain dark page that reads well on a phone, where each guess folds into a card of labelled tiles. It suits viewers who know the cast and their characters across campaigns, and D&D players who like the attribute-guess format of LoLdle and its many fan versions.
How to play CR-dle (Critdle)
- Type a Critical Role character's name in the search box and pick them from the list.
- Read the seven tiles: race, class, campaign, type, gender, status and player. Green matches the answer, red does not, and a shared class among several shows as a part match.
- Narrow the field with each guess; after five guesses you can request a hint.
- Name the day's character within ten guesses.
- Share your result, or open Past Puzzles to play earlier days and Playtest for extra rounds.

Tips
- The player column narrows things fast: guess a character played by a main cast member to rule them in or out.
- Many answers are NPCs voiced by Matthew Mercer, so do not spend every guess on the main parties.
- Campaign and status together cut the list sharply: a dead NPC from one campaign leaves few names.
- Save the hint for when you are down to a few candidates; it unlocks after your fifth guess.
Questions
When does CR-dle reset?
At midnight in your own time zone: the character is picked from your calendar date, and the win screen counts down to the next one.
Is the character the same for everyone?
Yes, for everyone on the same date. The answer is chosen from the date itself.
How many guesses do I get?
Ten, and you can ask for a hint after the fifth.
Can I play old puzzles?
Yes. The Past Puzzles calendar opens earlier days.
Is it free?
Yes. It plays in the browser with no account. The page loads Google AdSense, with a banner slot along the bottom on phones.
Can the same character come up again?
Yes. The day's character is drawn from a list of 130 by a hash of the date, so repeats can happen within weeks.
