Crack the day's four-colour code in ten guesses.

on ponderclub.co

Code Breaker on Ponder Club after a first guess of red, orange, yellow and green, answered 0 in the right spot and 2 in the wrong spot, at Attempt 2 of 10

Code Breaker is Ponder Club's daily take on Mastermind. Build a guess from six colours, and the game tells you how many are in the right spot and how many are right but in the wrong spot. Work out the hidden four-colour code within ten tries.

About Code Breaker (Ponder Club)

Code Breaker is Ponder Club's daily version of Mastermind, the classic code-cracking game. Each day there is one hidden code of four coloured pegs, the same for everyone, and your job is to work it out by guessing. Ponder Club is run by Flying Comet Games and hosts a shelf of short dailies, from a mini crossword to Slideways.

You tap colours from a palette of six (red, orange, yellow, green, blue and purple, each marked with its letter) to fill four slots, then submit. The game answers with pegs and a plain sentence, such as "0 in the right spot, 2 in the wrong spot", without saying which colours they are. A colour can appear more than once in the code. You get ten attempts, counted at the top as Attempt 1 of 10, and each answer rules out more of the possible codes.

When you crack it, a result card shows your number of guesses and your best, with buttons to share, open the day's leaderboard or move on to another Ponder Club game, and the page says a new code arrives tomorrow. An archive holds earlier days and a comments thread lets players compare notes. No account is needed. The game is free with ads, and a one-time purchase removes them.

It suits anyone who likes pure deduction and narrowing a code down step by step, in a short daily that usually takes a few minutes on a phone or a desktop.

How to play Code Breaker (Ponder Club)

  1. Tap four colours from the palette of six to fill the guess row; a colour may be used more than once.
  2. Press Submit guess.
  3. Read the answer: how many colours are in the right spot, and how many are in the code but in the wrong spot.
  4. Change your next guess to test what the answer left open.
  5. Find the code within ten guesses, then share your result or check the leaderboard.

Tips

  • Spend your first guess learning the palette: using colours you can repeat later helps you read the feedback.
  • Track how the peg counts change when you swap one colour: that tells you whether that colour belongs at all.
  • Remember that a right-colour peg does not say which slot, so test positions one change at a time.

Questions

What time does Code Breaker reset?

A new code arrives every day at midnight Pacific Time, according to the game's page.

Can a colour appear twice in the code?

Yes. Codes can repeat a colour, so a guess with a repeated colour can be the answer.

Do I need an account?

No. The daily plays straight away in the browser; Ponder Club offers an optional purchase that removes ads.
