Chessolo #1023 very easy board for 19 October 2026: a white queen on e3, a black bishop and rook on a 6x6 board, red crosses on a2 and e1, par 3

Chessolo is a solitaire chess puzzle with one white piece against a board of black ones. Each capture turns your piece into the type you took, so the order of captures decides what you can reach next. Puzzleship posts six boards a day, from very easy to ultra hard, each with a par.

About Chessolo (Puzzleship)

Chessolo gives you one white piece on a small board, usually 6 by 6, with black pieces scattered around it. Capture a knight and you move like a knight; capture a rook and you slide in straight lines. Movement follows normal chess rules for whatever you currently are, every black piece is a target, and the puzzle ends when the board is clear. Some boards mark squares with a red cross that are out of play, which narrows the routes further.

The challenge is the chain. Trading a queen's reach for a pawn's can strand targets that are still in plain sight. You may also make plain moves between captures, and each board shows a par: the fewest moves it can be cleared in. On the very easy board of 19 October, a queen took a bishop, moved one diagonal step as a bishop, and took a rook to finish in three moves; the ultra hard board of 17 October asked for eleven moves across seven black pieces.

Puzzleship publishes six boards of Chessolo a day under one puzzle number, graded from very easy to ultra hard and picked from a row of light bulbs above the board. A new set is scheduled for 13:00 UTC each day, even though the page says it arrives at midnight your time, so in Europe and Asia the date shown is often yesterday's until the afternoon. The boards are the same for every player, earlier days stay playable in the archive, and a solved board adds to a streak, which you sign in to keep. Undo, redo and a hint button sit under the board.

The site is free with ads, and a Premium plan removes them. Its sibling Chess Takes keeps every move a capture but lets any piece take any other without changing. Chessolo suits players who like short chess problems that are about planning a route rather than finding a checkmate.

How to play Chessolo (Puzzleship)

  1. Open Chessolo and pick one of the day's six boards from the row of light bulbs.
  2. Look at your white piece, the black pieces and any squares marked with a red cross.
  3. Tap your piece, then tap the square to move to; landing on a black piece captures it.
  4. After a capture your piece becomes the type you took and moves by its rules.
  5. Clear every black piece, aiming to match the par shown under the board.

Tips

  • Plan which piece you need to be at each step, not which target is nearest.
  • Avoid captures that leave you with too little reach.
  • Solve for the most isolated target first.
  • Knights and queens keep options open; pawns rarely do.
