Birdle
Rate itName the bird of the day from its photos and range map in six guesses.
on play-birdle.com

Birdle shows you photos of a mystery bird and a map of its range and gives you six guesses to name it. A wrong guess that shares the bird's order, family or genus turns those tiles green, so each miss narrows the search. There is a separate bird each day for the world, North, Central and South America, Europe, Africa, Asia, Australia and the USA Lower 48.
About Birdle
Birdle is a bird identification game in the shape of Wordle. Each day's page holds a carousel of photos of one species, often showing the male, the female and the juvenile, plus a map of where it is seen. You type a bird's common name, chosen from a list, and get six tries.
Every guess fills a row with four columns: order, family, genus and common name. If your wrong guess shares the order, family or genus with the bird of the day, that tile turns green, so you can climb down the family tree towards the answer. After three guesses the game offers a hint.
You pick a region from the menu: World, USA Lower 48, North America, Central America, South America, Europe, Africa, Asia, or Australia and Territories. Each has its own bird for the day; on 2 October 2026 the Europe bird and the Lower 48 bird were different species. The share text gives the region and the date. There is a practice mode and a stats page.
The Info page names Mitch as the developer and Blake as co-creator and chief ornithologist. Photos and range data come from eBird, with the photographers credited at the foot of the page. The game is free; the developer asks for small donations to cover running costs.
How to play Birdle
- Pick a region, or stay on the world game.
- Look through the photos and the range map of the day's bird.
- Type a bird name and choose it from the suggestions, then submit.
- Read the row: green tiles mean your guess shares the bird's order, family or genus.
- Use those matches to narrow your next guess; take the hint after three guesses if you want it.
- Name the bird within six guesses and share your result.

Tips
- Start with a guess from the family you suspect; a green family tile cuts the field to a handful of genera.
- Check the range map before guessing: it rules out look-alikes from other continents.
- The photos often show male, female and juvenile plumage, so look through all of them.
- Play a regional game for birds you are more likely to know, and the world game for a harder day.
