Betwixtle is a one-minute daily word game. Each day shows a first letter and a last letter, and you type as many English words as you can that begin and end with them before the timer runs out. Longer and rarer words score more, and one valid word keeps your streak going.
About Betwixtle
Betwixtle is a free browser word game from dailyones studios that started on 3 September 2026. Each day has a numbered game with one pair of letters, such as S and E or W and R, and the same pair for everyone that day.
A round lasts 60 seconds after a 3, 2, 1 countdown. You type whole words on the on-screen keyboard or a connected one and press Enter. A word must be at least three letters long and start and end with the day's letters. Longer words earn more: three letters score 3, four score 5, five score 8, and so on up the scale. Words outside the day's built-in list of common words are checked against a dictionary and earn a 2-point Uncommon bonus, or a 4-point Rare Word bonus when most of their senses are tagged rare, archaic, obsolete or dated. A misspelling or a non-word costs a point, while duplicates and words with the wrong letters cost nothing.
There is one round a day, with no archive. Your streak, best score, average and totals are kept in your browser, with no account, and the result can be shared as a short text line with your points, your word count and the day's pair. The game has no ads.
The puzzles come in packs written into the page. The first pack ran from game #1 on 3 September 2026 to 25 October 2026; on 26 October the page showed game #54 with a No game scheduled button and a line saying the pack had ended and to check back when the next set is released.
It suits players who like quick vocabulary sprints, the kind of game you finish in the time it takes to make a coffee. Unlike Spelling Bee or Squaredle there is no set of letters to work from, so the challenge is pulling words out of memory against the clock.
How to play Betwixtle

Tips
- Go for longer words where you can: five letters score more than two three-letter words.
- Think of common endings that fit the last letter, such as -er for R or -le for E, and run through them quickly.
- Do not guess at spellings: a word the dictionary rejects costs a point, though a repeat costs nothing.
- Enter one sure word early so the streak is safe before you try harder ones.
Questions
When does Betwixtle get a new puzzle?
The game follows your device's date, so a new letter pair appears at midnight in your local time.
Can I play past days?
No. There is one round a day and no archive; your history and stats stay in your browser.
Do I need an account?
No. The game plays straight away in the browser and has no ads.
Why does Betwixtle say No game scheduled?
The letter pairs come in packs built into the page. The first pack ended on 25 October 2026, and until the next set is released the page shows No game scheduled instead of a Play button.
