Bean Counter is CoffeeFirst's daily reverse Minesweeper. The numbers are already on the board, and you place coffee beans so each number matches how many beans touch it. There is a Normal and an Expert board each day, and three wrong beans end the game.
About Bean Counter
Bean Counter turns Minesweeper inside out. On CoffeeFirst.games there is a new numbered puzzle each day, the same for every player, in a Normal and an Expert size; puzzle No. 65 is dated 19 October 2026, and the archive lists every day back to the first. All the numbers are shown from the start, and the hidden things, coffee beans instead of mines, are yours to place.
Each number tells you how many beans touch that cell, including diagonally as in Minesweeper. You reason from the clues which cells must hold a bean and which cannot. A single click or tap marks a cell with an X as a note that it is empty, and a double click or double tap places a bean. A number whose beans are all placed dims, so you can see what is left to do. A timer runs while you play. A bean in the wrong place costs one of your three mistakes, and the third ends the game, so it pays to place only what you can prove.
The board is solved when every bean is in place. Earlier puzzles are in the archive, each puzzle has a leaderboard, and signing in (optional) puts you on it and lets you compare with friends. The game is free and shows ads, with a paid option to remove them. It suits Minesweeper players who want the logic without the opening guess.
How to play Bean Counter

- Double-click or double-tap a cell to place a bean there.
- Place every bean before you make three mistakes.

Tips
- Start with 0s: none of their neighbours can hold a bean.
- A 1 in a corner with only one free neighbour gives you that bean at once.
- A number equal to its count of free neighbours means all of them hold beans.
- Only place a bean you can prove; three mistakes end the game.
Questions
How is it different from Minesweeper?
The numbers are all visible from the start, and you place the beans (the mines) rather than avoid them.
How many mistakes can I make?
Three. The third wrong bean ends the game.
Can I play earlier puzzles?
Yes. The archive on the game's page lists every past puzzle by number and date.
Does Bean Counter have ads?
Yes. The free game shows banner ads, and on a phone an ad card can come before the board with a button to continue. CoffeeFirst sells a Go Ad-Free option that removes them.
