Anon is a free daily word puzzle from Mind Loft, an acrostic with the clues taken away. Every square of an unsigned passage belongs to one answer in a bank beside it, so each letter you type fills both at once, and when you finish, the first letters of the answers spell the author's name.
About Anon (Mind Loft)
Anon is Mind Loft's take on the acrostic. On one side is a passage from a published work, around a hundred letters or more (123 on 21 October 2026), with only its word breaks and punctuation showing; on the other is a bank of answers made of the same letters, shuffled. The bank has two parts: a spine of answers whose first letters matter, and a free bank whose answers have no initial to obey. Every box in the passage belongs to exactly one answer, so a letter typed in either half appears in the other straight away.
There are no clues in the usual sense. Some answers carry a short category you can work through in your head, such as a Greek letter or a planet of a given length; about half carry no category at all and have to come from the passage reading as English. Mind Loft's own advice is to start with the sharpest category rather than the passage, because a few placed letters make the sentence start to show.
There are no checks and no hints: a wrong answer simply stops the passage from making sense. When the bank is complete, the first letters of the spine answers, read down, name whoever wrote the passage, which is where the game gets its name. Two players who both finish are separated by the clock.
On a desktop the passage and the bank sit side by side with the leaderboard beside them, hidden until you choose to show it. On a phone the board stacks, an on-screen keyboard sits at the foot, and a Passage and Bank switch moves you between the two halves. A Give up button ends the day's board if you are stuck.
How to play Anon (Mind Loft)
- Open Anon and press Start to show the passage and the answer bank.
- Pick an answer with a category you can solve, such as a Greek letter of six letters, and type it in.
- Watch its letters land in the passage and use the partly filled words to guess more of the sentence.
- Type letters into the passage too; they fill the matching answers in the bank.
- On a phone, use the Passage and Bank switch above the keyboard to move between the two halves.
- Finish every answer, in the spine and the free bank; the first letters of the spine answers spell the passage's author.

Tips
- Solve the categorised answers first, since each one drops several letters into the passage at once.
- Short words in the passage, like THE or AND, are easy to read once one letter is in place.
- Use the author's initials on the spine as a check once a few first letters appear.
