Ten famous faces a day: alive or dead, and how sure are you?

Am I Dead? card 1 of 10 for today: a sketched portrait of a business figure under Alive or not?, with the 1x, 2x and 3x wager buttons, Reveal a clue, and Alive and Dead buttons

Am I Dead? shows you ten celebrities a day and asks one thing about each: are they still alive? You can reveal clues for fewer points and raise your wager up to three times, and a bonus round asks for birth or death years. Everyone gets the same ten, and a leaderboard ranks the results.

About Am I Dead?

Am I Dead? is a daily browser game built around a question people argue about while watching old films: didn't that actor die years ago? Its maker writes that the game came from exactly those arguments at home and went live in early 2026. Each day's round has ten celebrities, drawn from a rotation of around a thousand, chosen so the answer is not obvious.

You see a portrait and a category tag. Guessing alive or dead from the portrait alone is worth up to 100 points. Revealing the 'known for' clue drops that to 60, and revealing the nationality and peak decade as well drops it to 30. A wrong answer costs half of what it could have earned. Before each guess you set a wager of 1x, 2x or 3x, which multiplies both the gain and the loss.

After the ten guesses comes an optional bonus round on every celebrity you got right: slide to their birth or death year for up to 75 points if exact, and lose 25 if you are more than five years off. The best possible day is 3,750 points.

The site keeps a leaderboard over a rolling window, a Dead Last board for the lowest scorer, and weekly Postmortem write-ups on the faces that fooled the most players. Missed days cannot be replayed. It is free, with ads.

How to play Am I Dead?

  1. Open Am I Dead? and start today's puzzle.
  2. Look at the first portrait and its category; reveal clues only if you need them, since each one lowers the points on offer.
  3. Set your wager at 1x, 2x or 3x.
  4. Guess alive or dead and see the name and the answer.
  5. Repeat for all ten celebrities.
  6. In the bonus round, slide to the birth or death year of each one you got right, or skip it.
  7. Copy the spoiler-free summary card to share your score and streak.

Tips

  • Save the 3x wager for faces you are sure of; a wrong 3x guess costs 150 points.
  • Guessing from the portrait alone is worth 100 points against 30 with every clue, so reveal clues only when you are truly stuck.
  • Skip a bonus year you have no idea about: a guess more than five years off loses 25 points, and skipping costs nothing.
  • Older character actors and long-retired musicians are the usual traps; they often turn out to be alive.
